Stanley Milgram in 1967 found that the distance any two people in United States.
His question is that how many acquaintance would it take to connect two randomly selected. He estimated it require 100 people. And then he did an experiment. The procedure is sending letters to randomly chosen, which contained some messages. The contents of the message is add your name, fill it out and return it to Harvard University, if you know the target mail to him or her directly, if you don’t know the target, do not try to contact to him or her and instead mail this folder to a personal acquaintance who is more likely than you to know the target.
As a result, he found that the median number of intermediate person was 5.5 almost 6. Therefore he found “six degrees of separation”.
In the web, the big search engines have many computers running to look for new documents of web. As the experiment, Webpages are 11 clicks away from each other. However small separations are common in other network.
